December Sharing Time
Picture Christmas
This sharing time will engage the children in an activity that teaches them about the birth of the Savior.

Preparation:

Obtain six sheets of poster paper and crayons or markers. Write the scripture references on strips of paper.

Presentation:

Divide the children into six groups, with at least one teacher or leader assigned to each group. Give each group a scripture reference, poster paper, and crayons or markers. Have the group look up the scripture and read it, then create a picture that illustrates what they read.

After a set amount of time, have each group show their poster and briefly retell the story that goes with it. If there is an accompanying song, sing it to reinforce the story.

Scriptures:

1. Samuel the Lamanite. Helaman 13:4, 14:1–2. “Samuel Tells of Baby Jesus,” Children’s Songbook, p. 36.

2. Mary and Joseph travel to Bethelehem. Luke 2:1, 3–5. “When Joseph Went to Bethlehem,” CS, p 38.

3. Night without darkness. Helaman 14:3–5.

4. Shepherds and angels. Luke 2:8–11. “The First Noel,” Hymns, 213.

5. Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus. Luke 2:12, 16. “Away in a Manger,” CS, p. 42.

6. Wise men and star. Matthew 2:1–3, 9–11.

Bear testimony to the children that the Savior Jesus Christ really came to the earth, that he loves them, and will return someday.

Sing additional Christmas songs as time allows.
