June Sharing Time
Baptism Concentration

Help the children in your Primary to learn more baptism and what becoming a member of the Church really means.

This sharing time will help the children learn about baptism and the covenants we make when we are baptized.

Preparation: Obtain two copies of the following pictures (make photo copies or print from lds.org): Gospel Art Kit 208, John the Baptist Baptizing Jesus; GAK 225, The Last Supper; GAK 601, Baptism.; GAK 602, The Gift of the Holy Ghost; GAK 603, Blessing the Bread; GAK 604, Passing the Water; GAK 605, Young Boy Praying; GAK 608, Christ and Children. Mount each picture on colored paper. Using magnets or push pins post them, in random order, picture side down, on the chalkboard or bulletin board at the front of the room.

Presentation: Have the children take turns trying to find two matching pictures. When a pair is found, leave them turned to the picture side and briefly explain the message of the picture. Sing songs to reinforce the messages.

Suggested messages and songs:

208: Jesus set an example for us by being baptized. “Baptism,” Children’s Songbook, p. 100

225: Before Jesus died, he gave his apostles the sacrament. Bread so they would remember his body and wine so they would remember his blood.

601: When we are eight years old we can be baptized. When we are baptized we covenant to keep God’s commandments. “When I Am Baptized,” CS, p. 103

602: After baptism, we receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost can help us make wise choices. “Listen, Listen,” CS, p. 107

603: When we eat the sacrament bread we are reminded us of our baptismal covenants and of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for us. “The Sacrament,” CS, p. 72

604: When we drink the sacrament water we can think about Jesus Christ.

605: We should always remember Jesus. One way to do this is to pray every day in His name. “To Think About Jesus,” CS, p. 71

608: We belong to the Church of Jesus Christ. He loves us. “The Church of Jesus Christ,” CS, p. 77

Thank You Posted by Beverly from Utah Thank You for your suggestion. I was compleatly lost on what to do that would keep the children entertained. Your suggestion on the lesson helped me GREATLY!
