Integrity (Spencer W. Kimball 12)
by Joseph B. Wirthlin, "Personal Integrity," Ensign, May 1990, 30
In a revelation the Lord said, “Blessed is my servant Hyrum Smith; for I, the Lord, love him because of the integrity of his heart, and because he loveth that which is right.” (D&C 124:15.) I personally know of no higher praise that any man could receive. Read more >

Fortifying Ourselves against Evil Influences (Spencer W. Kimball 10)
by "Prepare to Resist Temptation," Ensign, Jul 2003, 71
How Can an Eternal Perspective Help Us Resist Temptation?
Alma 34:39: "Be watchful unto prayer continually, that ye may not be led away by the temptations of the devil, that he may not overpower you, that ye may not become his subjects at the last day; for behold, he rewardeth you no good thing."

Prayer, the Passport to Spiritual Power (Spencer W. Kimball 5)
by Gordon B. Hinckley, "The Blessings of Family Prayer," Ensign, Feb 1991, 2
I submit that a return to the old pattern of prayer, family prayer in the homes of the people, is one of the basic medications that would check the dread disease that is eroding the character of our society. We could not expect a miracle in a day, but in a generation we would have a miracle. Read more >

The Miracle of Forgiveness (Spencer W. Kimball 4)
by Neal A. Maxwell, "Repentance," Ensign, Nov. 1991, 30
For some months, I’ve tried to emphasize repentance, one of the most vital and merciful doctrines of the kingdom. It is too little understood, too little applied by us all, as if it were merely a word on a bumper sticker. Since we have been told clearly by Jesus what manner of men and women we ought to become—even as He is (see 3 Ne. 27:27)—how can we do so, except each of us employs repentance as the regular means of personal progression? Personal repentance is part of taking up the cross daily. (See Luke 9:23.) Without it, clearly there could be no “perfecting of the Saints.” (Eph. 4:12.) Read more >

Temporal and Spiritual Labor, “Hand in Hand Together” (Wilford Woodruff 22)
by Marion G. Romney, "Principles of Temporal Salvation," Tambuli, Oct. 1981, 1
We are confronted today with a great variety of serious economic and social conditions. But facing periods of economic stress, even deprivation, is not new to us as a Church. Throughout their history, the Saints have more than once faced such trials. As a result, the Lord from the early days of the Church has guided his leaders to see clearly certain correct principles. We feel compelled to reaffirm these basic principles of temporal salvation. Read more >

Remembering Our Spiritual Heritage (Wilford Woodruff 14)
by Spencer W. Kimball, "Follow the Fundamentals," Ensign, May 1981, 79
My beloved brothers and sisters: As I have pondered the social and economic conditions which confront us today, my thoughts have taken me back to our pioneer heritage. Our people have always been challenged by many and varied hardships which have tried our faith. It has been so from the beginning. --Spencer W. Kimball Read more >

Journals: “Of Far More Worth than Gold” (Wilford Woodruff 13)
by Spencer W. Kimball, "President Kimball Speaks Out on Personal Journals," New Era, Dec. 1980, 26
On a number of occasions I have encouraged the Saints to keep personal journals and family records. I renew that admonition. We may think there is little of interest or importance in what we personally say or do—but it is remarkable how many of our families, as we pass on down the line, are interested in all that we do and all that we say. --Spencer W. Rich Treasures in the Scriptures (Wilford Woodruff 12)
by Richard G. Scott, "Acquiring Spiritual Knowledge," Ensign, Nov. 1993, 86
Principles are concentrated truth, packaged for application to a wide variety of circumstances. A true principle makes decisions clear even under the most confusing and compelling circumstances. It is worth great effort to organize the truth we gather to simple statements of principle. I have tried to do that with gaining spiritual knowledge. The result is now shared in hope that it will be a beginning place for your study. --Richard G. Scott Read more >
